Alternatively, if you want a general solution to creating print-links etc with TS, try the short item at http://www.typo3apprentice.com/samples/tv-print-link/
I would say that this is the right solution, since such extensions take care of preserving the relevant parameters. Personnally I use cron_printlink and have never looked back.
