If you feel it's a bug you can file a bug report in http://bugs.typo3.org
Please provide more information about versions (OS, PHP, IM/GM, TYPO3
(4.5.0/1/2), etc.), settings (GFX settings, safe_mode, etc.), Typoscript
used for the menu/header graphics. This way it's a bit easier to
reproduce...
