Cookies, which are necessary for functionality (e.g. Session cookies)
are allowed (but they must be removed by closing the browser).
Tracking cookies must allow an optin / optout (depends on country
interpretation).

So you should be save ...

The intention of this law was to ensure privacy, but not breaking
anything ...
