You mean "typo3temp", right? Which user and which group owns this directory? Under which user/group is your web server running as? If you web servers runs as www-data:www-data, and the typo3temp directory is owned by polycarp:users for example, "755" will not work. Also check the error log for warnings/errors re "unable to write files" and double check disk space and quota on the server.
