Hi Urs, I don’t think that there will be a version of TYPO3 that simply has “no default language” [1]. You can however already use any language of your choice for a content element and choose on what “base language” record you want to translate (copy) from [2]. This is not the case for pages. Pages still use a main record in the default language (sys_language_uid = 0) and add language overlays thereon.
If you really need or prefer to be free on your choice of base language per record per page you should have a look at the NEOS project. Cheers Mark [1] Where “language” actually means “content variant” [2] Introduced in TYPO3 7: https://docs.typo3.org/typo3cms/FrontendLocalizationGuide/LocalizedContent/Index.html Am 24.01.17, 10:29 schrieb "Urs Braem" <typo3-english-boun...@lists.typo3.org im Auftrag von i...@ursbraem.ch>: Hi I have some kind of a memory about that there were intention to abolish the need for a main "default language" in TYPO3 and extbase. So that it would be possible for editors to decide freely if a record (a page, an extbase record eg. news or custom extension) is "Language ALL" or german, english or whatever - without workarounds. I'm not sure if there is or has been some development related to this, what the state of development is or under what search terms to look that up. Does that ring a bell, can you give me a hint?
