Hi, We work with an airline who fly into Ürümqi Diwopu International Airport (URC) amongst other airports in the region.
They have reported to us that time zone conversions to UTC are inaccurate which is highlighted most when calculating flight durations to locations out of China and flight durations taking negative amounts of time! On investigation, we have found varying degrees of confusion around the time zone used in this location (amongst others in this region of China) Overall, it would appear that Asia/Urumiqi respects a GMT+8 offset, whereas the IANA database records this as GMT+6. I would like to open a discussion around the validity of this and propose an update to the database changing from GMT+8 to GMT+6.
