Subject: AW: [U2] How import data from UniVerse into MS Access?
Importance: Low

Hi LeRoi,

it could be more simple, but works in my case :o)
With a lot of help of a new "friend" living 800km away from me, I realized
to access Data via ODBC.
First I created a new Account (a simple one, not SB+)
Then I logged to HS.ADMIN and executed HS.ADMIN
Menuchoice "3"
And gave him the new accountname (in my case ALPHA.ODBC) and answered
everythink with Y
I logged to the new Account and "set-file" the files I wanted to read.
The Q-Names I chosed where the same as the original ones and referenced to
the SB+ account (in my case ALPHA)
After that, I edited the DICT's of that files and added a @SELECT -
Statement
f.e.: ED DICT RECHNUNG @SELECT <Enter>
new record.
----:i
0001:PH
0002:NR ADR.NR.S etc. (all fields you want to read)
followed by as many lines just with a blank as fields you want to get access
to
then "save" that and execute HS.UPDATE.FILEINFO
The 0001:PH - line is static, but I didn't figure out, what the hell this
means

I hope, this works for you, if not feel free to ask again....

Greetz
Ralf

Betreff: [U2] How import data from UniVerse into MS Access?

Is it easy enough to import UniVerse files into MS Access via UVODBC? If
so,
how?

(Currently, I have a UVODBC configuration setup on my PC and it 'test's
okay,
but when I access the nominated UniVerse account via an MS Access Import,
nothing shows up in the window (no tables, files, records... nothing). Am I
doing something wrong? Does ODBC need to be configured on the UniVerse
server, as well, for the particular account? UVODBC is certainly installed
on
client and server.)

Thanks,
LeRoi
