Both local and direct would be catalogued "account-wide", that is, any program or user in that account could reference it. The difference is in where the object is stored. With direct, the object is referenced out of the file itself. For example, if the program in BP is named BOB the pcode will be in BP/_BOB. Direct will make a direct reference to that. Local, on the other hand, copies that object to the local catalog. 2. The search sequence is DIRECT and LOCAL (via VOC) then GLOBAL, as I understand it, but that's more of an educated guess than actual fact. See HELP CATALOG at TCL for more info. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Chauhan, Savita Sent: Tuesday, October 26, 2004 1:39 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [U2] [UD] Catalog Hi, I know that there are 3 kinds of catalog in UD - Global, local and direct. Can someone pls answer following questions regarding catalogs: 1. Is there something called 'cataloging a program Account wide'? If yes, what is account catalog and where does the program get cataloged? 2. In what (catalog) sequence is the object code searched for, while executing? (For eg, Is it searched first in global, then local, then direct, etc?) Thanks in advance.
