How was the printer setup in AIX? Did you use AIX's printer setup and specified the printer type or similar printer type? If you did, I believe that the AIX printing system does send some PCL to the printer at the beginning and end of each print job. The initial setup by AIX may be the problem.

(The print routine works just fine on other systems - it's not a PCL question) The problem we have encountered, is that when a complex set of PCL escape sequences is sent to the printer, including fonts, bar codes, box drawing, etc - all using PCL5/PCL6 command sequences some pieces don't print properly. What is bizarre, is that the boxes and bar codes are working properly, but the fonts print in courier. I've tested this by just printing fonts, and they work just fine, but when we have a complex page (often over 10k), things don't happen properly. I suspect that there may be a timing issue. (I wonder if it could be a network issue).
