Well, you can do an SQL DELETE on a plain type 18 file and it does not
have a SICA or an entry in the SQL catalog.

Nothing to stop you creating a paragraph to DELETE <<I2,FileName>>
<<I3,RecordID>> and invoke same as a stored procedure, using CALL
(only from a program, not from the command line).
Or maybe you don't have write permission to the directory!
