The permissions aren't an issue, BTW, on AIX at least, you need user only r/w permissions (600) for .netrc to run. But I was looking for a `nice' way to create the file from UV. I thought there may have been one of those sneaky ASSIGN @TRUE TO SYSTEM(1017) type of commands that might allow a `.file' to write cleanly.
