Adrian, Thanks for the suggestions. Ive never run nmap before, this is good to know about. I have discovered that I plugged the routers into the 'inside' of the firewall. They should have been on the 'dmz' side. So, I have corrected that and we still have issues.
For the time being, it appears to be a network config issue rather than a Universe issue. Hopefully, I will get to the 'simple' part that you describe soon.
