At may last place of employ we had modified the udt executable to flip the user's group the non-unidata group to the unidata group. We had users that needed to have access to the unix shell. This modification reduced the risk that someone would inadvertently delete a unidata data file. One of our programmers was really good with C programming and he added the modification. The using the make file he rebuilt the executable.
