Slightly off topic, but ...

We determined that it was supported on 11.11. We obtained an install CD
and tried to install it. The UV part seemed to work fine, but UVNET does
not talk to 10.0.19. Nor could we get it to talk the other way. We never
tested 10.2 to 10.2.

>From IBM (Australia):

This is a known issue - Ecase 9239*USA. Here are the details:

"UVNET connections from UV 10.2.0 (multiple platforms) to a server
running any previous release of UniVerse does not connect. The error is
either

'unirpc: No Connection', 'unable to get I/O semaphore' or continued
password prompts. UVNET connections from UV 10.1.x or 10.0.x to 10.2.0
work just fine.

Loopback connections for initial uvnet setup testing were all
successful.

In other words, UV 10.2.0 to itself is ok. Also, connections from one
10.2.0 machine to another 10.2.0 machine work correctly. The problem is
only when connecting back to old versions.

Turning on unirpcd debug mode generates a log of around 100 KB, the
error in the log is 'Bad arguments from rpc.'. If unirpcd is executed
interactively, the same error occurs.

The only workaround to getting connections to work between all servers
is to downgrade the 10.2.0 machines."

The good news is that Ecase 9239*USA has Priority 1 - Critical status,
and Engineering is already working on it. It has been assigned U2 Issue
1086 which is currently 4th on the list of all the issues. I will add
this case to the Ecase so that we find out when updates occur.

I checked our U2 Issues database and although Ecase 9239/Issue 1086 is
in the system, there are no notes next to it. It has been assigned to
an enginer but it doesn't look like he's done much work on it yet. That
means a fix is not in the immediate future. So if Trevor wants to use
UV/Net he should think about a downgrade.

in reply to ...

On the IBM site, it does not list HPUX 11i as a supported OS version for
UniVerse 10.2. Can anyone verify if this is actually the case?
