I've been involved with scanning invoices in bulk for years with a large law firm. We don't do any sort of OCR on them, we simply tag them with a barcode value used to link the image with the hand keyed record. UniVerse is simply the data repository.
My last experience with OCR type devices was with Hendrix machines way back in the 80's. Even then, they were pretty good at processing OCRA type face documents for our customer (the US Military). Today's OCR products are much imporoved. I would imagine your process will involve three stages, scan to pdf, OCR system and then into UniVerse. All three steps can be linked together with simple directory transfers of the data. Quality control will be the big issue. You may find that you have to task some poor soul to verify the OCR work prior to import into UniVerse. -- Don Kibbey ------- u2-users mailing list u2-users@listserver.u2ug.org To unsubscribe please visit http://listserver.u2ug.org/
