*_Lead Programmer Analyst_*
We are currently seeking a Lead Programmer Analyst for Hospital and
Clinical Information Systems. This position is ideal for creative,
motivated individuals with experience in hospital systems. The Lead
Programmer Analyst is responsible for the continued maintenance and
development of: hospital billing and admit/discharge systems, scheduling
systems, laboratory information systems, interfaces and diverse data
requests, and clinical information systems. We need a technical Lead to
formulate and implement necessary standards, procedures and guidelines
needed to promote a productive web-based presentation layer and
middleware development environment for our hospital and clinical
systems. The web-based presentation layers extract data (text and
visual) from all of the following databases: PICK/UniVerse, MS-SQL 7.0,
Oracle, and MS-Access. The Lead Programmer Analyst leads web,
middleware, and legacy application development projects using a variety
of database and web architectures including Cold Fusion, SQL, Universe,
Java, XML/XSL, Perl, HTML, JavaScript, and PHP. This position works with
other IT and hospital team members to design and develop new programs as
well as to enhance/modify existing software. Tasks include planning and
directing the installation of system releases and upgrades of assigned
systems, interfacing with users to ensure that all functions are tested
prior to implementation, producing program specifications, designing and
developing program code, performing functional testing, and supporting
system implementation. The Lead Programmer Analyst solves problems
affecting production applications in a manner that addresses the
immediate issue as well as the implementation of the long-term solution
to the identified problem.
The Lead functionality of this position includes responsibilities for
the overall definition, planning, and delivery of technical
infrastructure and information systems architecture within our two
hospitals. As such, candidates must establish/have a broad knowledge of
the hospital computing environment, and detailed knowledge of web and
middleware architectures, databases, and clinical applications.
Candidates must be well versed with middleware and service oriented
architectures. This position also requires a solid understanding of the
business needs as they apply to our hospitals, staff, faculty,
clinicians, and students. As such, we look for candidates that have a
working knowledge of hospital/business principles, work processes, and
terminology. The position will supervise a unit of 4 or 5 professional
staff with responsibilities to include projects and project management
of staff within unit and across the IT Group. The Programmer Analyst
functionality of this position includes hands-on programming
responsibilities for web development and/or database administration. We
have a well rounded skill set among our in-house and contract staff, so
our team is looking for a lead position that has wide-ranging experience
in complex enterprise environments so that he/she is able to lend a hand
with operations and/or projects. The hands-on and supervisory roles of
this position require the ability to prioritize and execute technical
operation and support tasks, to coach and direct systems staff, to make
quick decisions, and to ensure that the collection of applications and
information systems are reliable, stable, and solid.
Our ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree plus a minimum of five
years application development and support with at least two of those
years in lead role. Web and middleware architecture planning and
experience with legacy systems a plus. Experience with full system
lifecycle for application development preferred. Candidates must have
thorough knowledge of WWW and database architecture, extensive
experience in Cold Fusion, HTML, JavaScript, and ODBC/JDBC database
connections. Experience with multivalue database environments,
preferably IBM UniVerse or experience with other PICK-type databases is
preferred. Hospital information systems experience, including financial
systems, ADT, inventory management, and billing systems is highly
preferred. Our candidates must have excellent interpersonal, written,
and verbal communication skills; have strong project planning,
management and coordination skills; system development life cycle
processes, change control and documentation skills; application software
and business information analysis and design skills. The successful
candidate should have a demonstrated ability to work well with a diverse
campus community, strong analytical and decision-making skills, and
