Hi Bill,
We came across something like this sometime ago. The error message is
caused by entries being left in the uvtemp directory, but that is just a
symptom. In reality, the problem is that a phantom or background process
that opens a file and then executes another process seems to corrupt a
table of open files in the executed process. That process then dies with
too many open files, leaving the entry in uvtemp. This all from memory,
and so I am a bit hazy on the details.....
The workaround is to close any opened files in the execute'ing process
before the execute. This has been passed on to engineering in IBM - I dont
know when it has been or will be fixed...
