There is no shame to being ignorant unless one professes to knowledge that one has not gained apriori or through study or experience.
For example, I am ignorant of the procedures necessary to perform heart surgery; however I become an ignoramous when I pretend to have such knowledge... and probably a murderer when I try to perform the operation.
