I am a bit late reading this list as I have been away from work.

We are running UV 10.0.11 on AIX 5.2

If you have not experienced splitting mirrors in AIX 5.2 you are in for a
treat. It takes a significant amount of time - in our case 13 minutes.

We have stopped doing this. Instead starting about 6 pm we progressively
copy the changes to a separate area, using rsync, every 30 mins or so until
we want to do our backup. At the allotted time we do a suspend.files, make
the final copy with rsync, then resume. This takes up to 2 minutes.

rsync only copies the changes and is very fast if there are few changes. We
then use this copy for our tape backup and also to send to our DR site 200
miles away.
This has proven to be very successful.
