R P I A 2000 Probabilistic Reasoning in Artificial Intelligence
--------------------------------------------------
20 November, 2000
A workshop held in conjunction with the
Iberoamerican Conference on Artificial Intelligence
IBERAMIA'2000 - SBIA'2000
November 19-22 2000
Atibaia, Sao Paulo, Brazil
WWW: http://w3.mor.itesm.mx/~doc/iberamia/workshop.html
Important Dates:
- ---------------
31 August 2000 - Deadline for papers and panel proposals
30 September 2000 - Notification to authors
15 October 2000 - Deadline for final papers
20 November 2000 - Workshop (Iberamia)
What the Workshop is About:
- --------------------------
The workshop will address the principles, methods and practical
applications of probabilistic techniques in different areas of
artificial
intelligence. In particular, the following subjects will be of interest
to the
workshop:
Techniques:
- Bayesian networks: representation, inference and learning
- Influence diagrams: construction and evaluation
- Dynamic and temporal probabilistic models
- Hidden Markov Models
- Markov Decision Processes
- Hybrid models
- Relation with other uncertain reasoning methods
Applications:
- Speech and natural language processing
- Learning and data minning
- Planning and robotics
- Human computer interaction, user modelling
- Diagnosis, troubleshooting, and test selection
- Medical decision making
- "Novel" applications
Instructions for Participants
- -----------------------------
RPIA'2000 seeks submission for two tracks:
- Papers
- Panel proposals
Papers
------
Papers submitted may be written in Portuguese, Spanish or English. They
should present new results in theoretical, empirical and applied
research in
all areas related to probabilistic reasoning in artificial intelligence.
The workshop comittee will also consider work in progress, that should
be high in interest and potential, but will typically contain
only preliminary results and analyses.
Papers should be no longer than 8 pages, including all tables, figures,
and references. It is recommended that the authors use the same style as
Iberamia
regular papers (Springer-Verlag). The first page should contain:
1.Title of the paper.
2.Authors' names with affiliation, postal address, phone number and
e-mail
addresses.
3.Approximately 200 word summary.
4.Up to 5 keywords.
Papers should be submitted electronically, in PDF or PostScript, to
the following address: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
All papers will be evaluated by at least two members of the workshop
committee and/or additional reviewers.
Accepted papers will be published in the Workshop proceedings.
Panel proposals
---------------
The workshop will include at least two panels that seek to promote an
open and informal atmosphere for discussion of diffent aspects of
probabilisic reasoning in AI. The topics for the panels should be of
general interest and current relevance in the area.
Panel proposals should be no longer than 1 page and should contain:
1.Title of the panel.
2.A brief description of the issues the panel addresses.
3.A list of at least 3 experts in the field that will be part of the
panel.
4.The name with affiliation, postal address, phone number and e-mail
address of the panel responsible.
Panel proposals should be submitted electronically, in text (ASCII), to
the following address: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
The panels will be evaluated and selected by the workshop committee.
