Currently, I am putting together a new MIS master's program at my institution. I feel we need a course which could be called industrial informatics or just informatics. It would be similar to a bioinformatics course in that it would cover the EM algorithm, MCMC, Bayes nets, neural nets, etc, but the applications would be in business such as credit risk analysis, portfolio design, Web usage analysis, etc.
Does anyone know of a similar course elsewhere? I'd also appreciate knowing of any journal articles whose results I could include in the course. Thanks, Rich
