SCOPE OF THE CONFERENCE:
The IPMU conference is organized every two years with the focus of bringing
together scientists working on methods for the management of uncertainty and
aggregation of information in intelligent systems. This conference provides a
medium for the exchange of ideas between theoreticians and practitioners in
these and related areas.
CONFERENCE SITE:
This year, the conference will take place in the conference centre
"Westfalenhallen" in Dortmund, a renowned city located in the Ruhrarea, the
former industrial heart of western Germany.
SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME:
The conference will feature an expressive scientific program including more
than 230 oral presentations on various topics, including, uncertainty in
intelligent systems, aggregation and information fusion, machine learning, data
mining and pattern recognition, logic and knowledge representation, amongst
others.

Melanie Mitchell (Portland State University)
Nikhil Pal (Indian Statistical Institute)
Bernhard Schölkopf (Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics)
Wolfgang Wahlster (German Research Center for AI, DFKI GmbH)
SOCIAL PROGRAMME:
The social programme will direct the participants to the "Zollverein World
Heritage Site", also known as "the world's most beautiful coal mine", and today
the most famous industrial monument and centre of the creative industry in the
Ruhr area. A guided tour through gigantic machines on the Zollverein Heritage
Trail will be followed by a gala dinner in the "Casino Zollverein", one of the
"best restaurants in the whole of the Ruhr Area".
KAMPE DE FERIET AWARD:
As one of the highlights of the conference, the Kampé de Fériet Award 2010 will
be given to Jim Bezdek for his outstanding scientific achievements and
exceptional contributions to the field of information processing and management
of uncertainty.
RUHR-2010:
The Ruhrarea will be the European Cultural Capital in 2010, hosting an
impressive program of art, exhibitions, culture, performances and industrial
