The successful candidate will be part of a highly collaborative, productive, multi-disciplinary scientific faculty and will be expected to build and maintain an independent, extramurally-funded research portfolio in their field of study. Candidates will be considered at all faculty ranks (Assistant, Associate or Full Investigator). GHRI (www.grouphealthresearch.org/<file:///C:\Documents%20and%20Settings\nelsjl1\Local%20Settings\Temporary%20Internet%20Files\OLKBD\(www.grouphealthresearch.org\>) is internationally recognized for conducting non-proprietary academic research, primarily through federally funded grants and contracts that total more than $45 million annually. GHRI's scientific faculty consists of more than 35 doctorate-level investigators trained in medicine, epidemiology, behavioral science, economics, pharmacy, and biostatistics. Current programmatic research areas include (but are not limited to): cancer prevention, pharmacoepidemiology, immunizations, behavioral medicine, mental health, women's health, complementary and alternative medicine, health services, chronic disease management and prevention, and aging. GHRI is part of a vibrant research community in Seattle, including the University of Washington and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. It is a member of several large, national research networks including the HMO Research Network, NCI's Cancer Research Network, NIMH's HMORN Mental Health Research Network, NHLBI's HMORN Cardiovascular Research Network, AHRQ's SUPREME-DM (SUrveillance, PREvention, and ManagEment of Diabetes Mellitus) Network, CDC's Vaccine Safety Datalink, and FDA's Sentinel Initiative. GHRI is affiliated with Group Health, a large not-for-profit health care delivery system. This positioning allows access to an ideal natural, population-based laboratory to study important health issues through clinical trials, observational studies, and qualitative research. Investigators have access to electronic medical records, pharmacy records, and other health plan data for health plan members. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated ability to both collaborate on multidisciplinary research teams and to successfully compete for research funding. Applicants must have a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in an applicable health-related field, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration.
