SnT is carrying out interdisciplinary research in secure, reliable and 
trustworthy ICT systems and services, often in collaboration with industrial, 
governmental or international partners. SnT is active in several international 
research projects funded by the EU H2020 and the European Space Agency.

The scientific research will take place in the context of a joint 
Research/Teaching programme between the Luxembourg Institute of 
Standardisation, Accreditation, Safety and Quality of Products and Services 
(ILNAS) and the University of Luxembourg, that aims at creating an innovative 
environment on digital trust for smart-ICT and the related standardization 
efforts. Three different smart-ICT targets have been identified: Big Data, 
Cloud Computing, and Internet of Things.


PhD Position at SnT, University of Luxembourg in Digital Trust for Smart-ICT 
(M/F)

  *   Ref: R-STR-5016-Z
  *   Fixed Term Contract up to 3 years in total, pending satisfaction of 
progress milestones (CDD), on full time basis (40hrs/week).
  *   Number of positions: 3
  *   Start day: from May 2017 upon agreement.

Your Role

The successful candidates will join a strong and motivated research team led by 
Prof. Pascal Bouvry (https://pcog.uni.lu/) in order to carry out research to 
pursue a PhD on the following topic:
 Digital Trust for Smart-ICT: Cloud Computing (#1), Big Data (#2), Internet of 
Things (#3)

The position holder will be required to perform the following tasks:

  *    Carrying out research in the predefined areas;
  *    Participation in the related standardization committees;
  *    Collaboration with ILNAS/ANEC;
  *    Disseminating results through scientific publications;
  *    Participating in proposal drafting;
  *    Assisting in organization of relevant workshops;
  *    Assisting in teaching.

Your Profile

Qualification: The candidate should possess an MSc degree or equivalent in 
computer science, computer engineering, or applied mathematics.

Experience: The ideal candidate should have some knowledge and experience in a 
number of the following topics:
• Optimisation;
• Algorithmics;
• Parallel/Distributed computing;
• Machine learning;
• Security.

Language Skills: Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are 
required. Knowledge of French, German or Luxembourgish is desirable.
