Dear Colleagues,
Journal of Universal Computer Science is currently running a Special Issue entitled " New Trends in Logic Reasoning Approaches for Rational Decision Making" (http://www.jucs.org/ujs/jucs/info/special_issues/in_preparation.html). We would like to invite you to submit your research contribution to this special issue. AIM AND SCOPE Decision making is the crucial step in many real world applications such as organization management, financial planning, products evaluation, recommendation and cyber-physical system applications. Various methods and approaches have been explored from different viewpoints. Rational decision making becomes more and more important especially in the digital marketing industry nowadays because it leverages objective data, logic, and analysis instead of subjectivity and intuition to help solve a problem or achieve a goal. Accordingly rational decision making methods with the theoretical foundations to address the accuracy, reliability and precision of decision making have been hot research topic owing to their importance and effectiveness. Essentially, the process of decision making can be interpreted as a reasoning process from provided information or domain knowledge to some conclusions. Reasoning provides a formal way and fundamental mechanism for problem representation and decision-making process. Logic serves as the foundations of reasoning mechanism, and it builds a bridge between theory and application. Therefore, this special issue focuses on the state-of-the-art research results on decision making from the viewpoint of logic reasoning based methods and techniques in its broadest sense, and aims at providing an opportunity for collecting some excellent work on the above common research areas including compiling the latest research, development and practical experiences as well as up-to-date issues; reviewing accomplishments, assessing future directions and challenges in the field. THEME Accordingly, this special issue welcomes contributions within one of the following research topics, which can be theoretical formalisms, methodologies; algorithms investigation or practical applications: - Automated reasoning approaches for decision making - Approximate reasoning approaches for decision making - Logical specification of decision making problems - Logical theories for decision making - Applications of logic reasoning to policy making, service evaluation, system credibility verification, cyber-physical systems, etc. INSTRUCTION FOR SUBMISSION Submitted papers should be submitted via E-mail to the guest editors, together with a cover letter, in which the authors should clearly state that the submission is for the J.UCS Special Issue on "New Trends in Logic Reasoning Approaches for Rational Decision Making". All submitted papers will be in the English language and the length of a paper may not exceed 20 pages. The papers can only be accepted for publication after a rigorous review process. Each paper must be reviewed by at least 3 reviewers. The papers should follow the format of the J.UCS journal.
