Dear all,

A fully funded PhD position is available in the Decision and Cognitive
Sciences Group at Alliance Manchester Business School, University of
Manchester.

The research topic is on "Data-driven optimisation techniques for
personalised medicine development and delivery" and the position combines
research in Bayesian optimisation, interactive user-guided search, and AI
applied to the manufacture and supply chain of personalised medicine. The
optimisation problems considered in the project feature time-consuming
evaluations (runs of simulators), multiple objectives, constraints,
uncertainties and mixed-type variables.

This is a collaborative and interdisciplinary project providing the student
with the opportunity to work with notable groups in the UK and Europe as
well as an industrial partner that provides the domain expertise in
personalised and a state-of-the-art simulator to validate the methods
developed.

We are looking for candidates that have a strong quantitative background
(Machine Learning, Maths, Physics, Statistics), experience with
Bayesian optimisation/Gaussian
processes, and an interest in advancing the healthcare sector.

More information about the project and how to apply for it is available here
https://www.jobs.ac.uk/job/BPU657/phd-scholarship-data-driven-optimization-for-personalized-medicine-development-and-delivery

The submission deadline for applications is *29th of March*. Feel free to
get in touch with me ([email protected]) in case of
questions about the project.

Best,
Richard
