If you think 64 characters is too long, you're thinking about passwords
incorrectly.

Mary.had.a.little.lamb.l2ittle.lamb.little.lamb

That's not 64 or more characters, but that's the type of password you should be
using if not able to to use random characters via a password manager. Whatever
phrase floats your boat separated by special characters and a number inserted
(not substituted) into one or more words.

Who in their right mind will type in a 64 character password?

Okay, so two years.

BTW: The max of 63 is too low as well. Given that it's a hash, the size of the
input should be irrelevant as only the hash is being stored anyway. I believe
Unimus has tested with 500 character passwords, though it's not necessarily a
limit.

Hey Guys,

We increased the max password length in 5.6.1 when the password hashing
algorithm was changed. Current max length should be 63 characters.

No, hasn't been for maybe a year? That's still at least six years too long.

I wouldn't roll it back if I were them.

Though I also would have lifted the eight character max long ago.

They got a huge amount of pushback on that and will be making changes

I recently updated software on one of my units and found the Ubiquiti

The NIST has finally admitted their mistake in recommending those
