I installed edgy to my laptop and after some modification I managed to get orca working. The first problem was with the sound, but you can easily just see if they are only muted by default. Open terminal and type 'alsamixer', see if any sound configuration is muted. I got sounds back via this simple operation (after searched answers from different web sites for a half a day). Ou, I installed dapper first and upgraded it to edgy.
Problem after this with orca was that the speech comes with small delay when operating system with orca. Haven't really figured that out. Shutdown from laptop has to be done after you have logged off and in login screens, otherwise you just have options to save power, suspend etc. Message: 4 Date: Tue, 21 Nov 2006 22:37:16 +0000 From: MICHAEL WEAVER <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: edgy not working on laptop To: [email protected] Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed I can't run Edgy with speech on my laptop even when I run Ubuntu Live and then try to run Orca. It works on my desktop although I am still confused about some of the questions asked about keystrokes and if I need to logout, I can't seem to be able to do that CTRL ALT delete to do it or even have speech to enable me to access the menus to be able to logout. -- Ubuntu-accessibility mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-accessibility
