Hi!

I looked through a PC hardware shop to get an idea of currently offered

2560 x 1600 1.6 8:5
1920 x 1200 1.6 8:5
2048 x 1152 1.77 16:9
1920 x 1200 1.6 8:5
1920 x 1080 1.77 16:9
1680 x 1050 1.6 8:5
1600 x 1200 1.33 4:3
1440 x 900 1.6 8:5
1280 x 1024 1.25 5:4
1024 x 768 1.33 4:3

Laptops

1920 x 1200 1.6 8:5
1920 x 1080 1.77 16:9
1680 x 1050 1.6 8:5
1680 x 945 1.77 16:9
1440 x 900 1.6 8:5
1366 x 768 1.77 16:9
1280 x 800 1.6 8:5
1024 x 576 1.77 16:9

Width x Height Factor Aspect-Ratio

8:5 is often given as 16:10 ...

Attached you will find an SVG template based on the largest commonly
offered resolution of 2560 x 1600, with frame layers to show the extents
of other aspect ratios, simulating the effect of the background zoom
setting.

To Kenneth: Would you like to see this on the wiki? If so, where
exactly?
