Run 'gconf-editor /apps/maximus' and change the value of 'exclude_class' to include the window class of whatever you want to ignore. To find out the class run 'xwininfo' and then click on the window in question - it will return with a line (among others) such as: xwininfo: Window id: 0x4400005 "VLC media player" In this case 'VLC media player' is probably the class you wantFollowed your advice and added the appropriate entry for VLC (which is "VLC media player") but the app is still starting up maximised with Maximus. Any other advice?
Try adding just "VLC". Maximus does sub-string matching so that should be enough. Are there any other items in the list for exclude_class?
