Long anticipated Ubuntu 8.04 was just released yesterday [April 24, 2008]
I should call me "lucky" as I am using it within 12 hours of the release.

Lets discuss about our expectations and the actual experience here.

The Live CD has a major change. It gives a direct installation option
which doesn't boot the whole usable OS, instead it just gives the GUI
ubuquity installer.

Just a note when installing, remove the internet cable when
installing. [we live in Bangldesh].

My first experience after installation is "disappointment". My monitor
was detected as widescreen. My monitor's native resolution is
[EMAIL PROTECTED], but the highest resolution was 1280x960. By the way, I
use nVidia GF 7300LS

The Hardware Driver (previously known as Restricted Drivers) showed
that there is a "new" nVidia driver and it is not in use. There is no
option to download or reinstall the new driver. Later I found that I
needed to update the repository to get that option!

I tried to reconfigure the xserver. It stops reconfiguring after it
gets information about the keyboard. Then the resolution became
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Anyways, finally I could make it [EMAIL PROTECTED] (yes 50!)

Another thing is, ubuntu's desktop stopped working 4 times. I don't
know exactly why. But it never happened before.

Bluetooth Manager impressed me. This is the first time when I could
send and receive files from and to my mobile phone without any
problem. But my phone detects my computer as "gizmo's Mac Pro" (the
name I use on Mac OS X) instead of "gizmo-desktop-0". Weird!

Font rendering, desktop visualization, start-up time is really impressive.
Application startup time seemed a bit slower.

My internet speed got screwed up today, so couldn't do experiments on
other stuffs.

Thats all for now, waiting for other user's experience.

NOTE: My "PC" is comparatively old one. P4-2.8, 2G RAM. Using a
separate 30GB IDE hard drive for ubuntu.
