Most of them are only visible when the cursor is positioned on them; idem fot the roll down menu's; only the one under the cursor is visible. I cleaned the disk (not only delete but overwrite) and re-installed ubuntu 6.10 without installing the kubuntu desktop also, and no problems anymore
