Hi all,

As all of you probably know, Canonical has more or less abandoned the
traditional Gnome desktop in favour of the Unity interface. Apparently, if
your graphics card does not support 3D acceleration, the interface falls
back to the traditional Gnome desktop. Since Unity is one of the main new
features for the upcoming 11.04 release, we should be able to show this new
interface, along with all the bells and whistles.
The Ghent event box has 2 IBM Thinkpad R51 laptops, which were donated by my
employer. These laptops have an ATI card, supporting 3D acceleration, but
there are no drivers available for Linux. The ATI drivers available from
AMD's website only support newer hardware. This means there's no way to
demonstrate the new Unity interface on the next Dipro fair in Ghent.
Any bright ideas or comments on this subject? What about other event boxes?
Do they have newer hardware, supporting 3D acceleration?

regards,

Kenneth
