Op een PC met UEFI firmware kan je die firmware normaal niet uitschakelen, integendeel: wat je kan in- of uitschakelen is de BIOS-emulatie (die gebruikt EFI-functies om de BIOS-functies te emuleren; wat nodig is voor oudere besturingssystemen zoals Windows XP).
