Ainda não cheguei a testar, mas parece-me que o Phanton é ótimo para recuperação de dados, imagens de disco, partições... Faz o download da iso para gravação de LiveCD, o que já facilita muito as coisas, pois você não precisa usar o SO do HD para roda-lo. Faz o boot pelo CD (157Mb, se não me engano) ele carrega a interface Linux na RAM e pronto, manda ver.
