Hello, I have a similar, but not necessarily identical, display issue on an ASUS GL552VW running Linux Mint 22.3 Zena (Ubuntu 24.04 base).
**Hardware** - Laptop: ASUS GL552VW, BIOS GL552VW.304 - GPU: Intel HD Graphics 530 (Skylake, PCI ID 8086:191b) - Internal panel: ChiMei/InnoLux eDP, 1920x1080 at 60 Hz - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M is also present. **Symptoms** - With kernel 6.8.0-139-generic, thin horizontal white bars flicker at several positions on the internal display during boot, login, and terminal launch. - With kernels 6.14.0-37-generic and 7.0.0-31/-34/-38-generic, black screen flickering occurs instead. - The external HDMI monitor remains unaffected. The problem also persists with the external monitor disconnected. - Booting with `nomodeset` completely eliminates the flickering. **Tests that did not fix the issue** - `i915.enable_psr=0` - `i915.enable_dc=0` - `i915.enable_fbc=0` - `intel_iommu=igfx_off` The kernel log contains: `HPD interrupt storm detected on connector eDP-1: switching from hotplug detection to polling` The i915 display information reports `max bpc: 6`, `dither=yes`, and `bpp=18` for the internal eDP panel. I understand that my symptoms are not exactly the same as the continuously flickering bottom-edge band described in this report. Could you advise whether this is likely to be the same underlying i915 display issue, or whether a separate bug report would be more appropriate?
