SUMMARY After upgrading to Ubuntu 26.04, a stylus is completely unresponsive in applications that run through Xwayland. The same pen works normally in native Wayland applications. Downgrading xwayland to 2:24.1.9-1 fixes it. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. On Ubuntu 26.04.1 with xwayland 2:24.1.10-1, log in to the default GNOME Wayland session with a pen tablet connected (Xp-pen Star G640). 2. Start an application that uses Xwayland, for example Aseprite, or GIMP forced to X11 with `GDK_BACKEND=x11 gimp`. 3. Move or press the stylus over the application window. EXPECTED RESULT The stylus moves the application's cursor and draws, with pressure, as it does in native Wayland apps and as it did before the upgrade. ACTUAL RESULT - The application receives no input from the stylus at all, not even as plain pointer movement. - A second system arrow cursor follows the stylus, while the application's own cursor stays where the mouse last stopped. Two cursors are visible at once. - Aseprite 1.3.9.1-dev (freshly rebuilt from current source) and GIMP with GDK_BACKEND=x11 show identical symptoms, so the fault is not in any one application. - GIMP running natively on Wayland works with the same pen. DIAGNOSTICS - `xinput --list` shows the tablet devices exposed by Xwayland (xwayland-tablet stylus id=11, eraser id=12, cursor id=13). - `xinput test-xi2 --root` receives Motion events from device 11, so the root window sees the pen, but applications do not receive it. WORKAROUND Installing xwayland 2:24.1.9-1 (sudo dpkg -i xwayland_24.1.9-1_amd64.deb) restores normal pen behaviour. I put the package on hold with `apt-mark hold xwayland`.
