@belibem: what happens if you right click on the update-notifier icon
and select "Show updates"?
@Gord Berta: if you still have this problem that "sudo update-manager does not
come up with anything, could you please run:
$ sudo strace update-manager 2> /tmp/update-manager.log
$ gzip -9 /tmp/update-manager.log
and attach the log to this bugreport ("add attachment" on the left)?
