Public bug reported: This occurs both when booting from the 6.06 LiveCD (Desktop) and also after doing an install from text mode and subsequently attempting to boot the installation. This happens 100% of the time. I am able to move the mouse around before the screen is displayed (i.e., the background is black) and then after the screen appears, I have about 1.5 seconds to click on something or try to type a user name, but as soon as that startup sound finishes playing, it's curtains. I have to hold the power button for 7 seconds to get it to power down after that.
I will get a copy of the logs and attach them to this posting, but I can't access them from this OS. I am unable to tell precisely what component is causing the problem and I'm open to troubleshooting steps. Also, I'm not certain what the best way to get my hardware info. I did post a rough list in this thread (http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=1139759).
