Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ifupdown
After manually converting a head-less server from automatic IP assignment via DHCP (dhclient3) to static IP assignment by editing /etc/network/interfaces and ifdown/ifup the network interface, I discovered a few hours later, that the machine apparently 'fell off the net', since it was assigned the wrong IP address again via DHCP. It turned out that ifdown didn't kill the dhclient, although it ought to. (ifdown from ifupdown 0.6.7ubuntu7 as distributed with Ubuntu 6.06 x86) ** Affects: ifupdown (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- ifdown doesn't kill dhclient https://launchpad.net/bugs/49801 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
