I did ... cd /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/ mv default bak_default
Reboot. This time, kwin starts OK. (But of course XIM SCIM doesnt work). Then,... cd /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/ mv bak_default en_US Reboot.
