Public bug reported: Dapper Final, fully updated. Using a Dell Inspiron 510m (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/DellInspiron510m). I'll attach xorg.conf.
I think that my touchpad is an ALPS using the synaptics xorg driver. I am taking the list of what my touchpad should do from the features list of http://web.telia.com/~u89404340/touchpad/ (reproduced on the LaptopTesting page above). According to the above page, the touchpad should allow "Dragging through short touching and holding down the finger on the touchpad". I am not entirely sure exactly what this means but nothing like this description seems to work: - putting the cursor above an icon, tapping the touchpad (selects the icon) then putting my finger back down and moving it while retaining contact with the pad; - omitting the first tap - put the cursor above an icon and putting my finger down on the pad and sliding it Any questions or clarification, just ask. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed ** Attachment added: "xorg.conf" http://librarian.launchpad.net/3084558/xorg.conf -- Dell Inspiron 510m: No drag through short touch and hold down https://launchpad.net/bugs/50084 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
