My motherboard is an Asus A8N-VM CSM, NVIDIA nForce 430 chipset.
Symptoms are very similar but show randomly. First live CD boot went
well. Once installed, I get random behaviour (sometimes works, sometimes
doesn't). My network fails both at startup and after some time of using
Firefox to surf the net.

Deactivating and activating back eth0 via the Network Settings panel
makes it work. Sometimes, after a while it'll fail again, though. Then I
do the deact/act thing and it's back.

/etc/init.d/networking restart doesn't make it work.

Setting my IP manually doesn't help.

Once I get the connection to work, I experience the following:

Setting the router (192.168.1.1) as the DNS server makes surfing slow,
but won't fail so often.

Setting my ISPs DNS servers makes it still slow, but again makes it work
more often than not.

Setting no DNS servers (letting DHCP solve it) makes it work faster but
fails more often.

I'm not Linux expert and don't know how to install official NVIDIA
drivers yet. Once I learn how to do it, I'll report back.
