Success. I was able to obtain an IP address for my wireless card (using stock rt2500 driver in the latest kernel) by adding
wireless-essid rtswireless wireless-key <hex key> to /etc/network/interfaces All previous attempts were using the ASCII key. So, the bugs are now: - Why doesn't ASCII key work? - Why doesn't network manager manage my wireless interface anymore? -- rt2500 wireless adapter unable to obtain IP address https://launchpad.net/bugs/49392 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
