I had this same problem. It cost hours of fiddling! :-(( I was installing ubuntu 6.06 on top of Suse on my PowerBook. therefore I already had the Newworld boot partition as well as swap and /boot and /.
I asked the partitioner to reformat swap, /boot and /. I then was given an error message saying that no Newworld boot partiton could be found. So I went back and tried to 'fix' the 'problem'. 2 hours later (after multiple attempts, crashes of the installer etc) I had the machine back in the original state. That is to say I had a correct neworld boot partition and all the other partitions mentioned. Once again I asked the installer to format swap, /boot and /. And once again the installer warned me that no NewWorld boot partition could be found, however I ignored the warning and continued with the installation. The installation completed succesfully with yaboot being correctly installed!! (N.B. I know I don't need a /boot partition, but I happened to have a chunk of freespace on my disk of 128MB, so I choose to use it as /boot. I am not confusing it with the NewWorld boot partition :-) -- bootstrap partition problem https://launchpad.net/bugs/20418 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
