Dear Michael, I'm really grateful for your suggestion and tried to follow it. But as you see I was denied permission. Before I do something I regret -- was I to "sudo"? This is what happened so far:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ /var/lib/apt/lists/archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_hardy_universe_binary-i386_Packages bash: /var/lib/apt/lists/archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_hardy_universe_binary-i386_Packages: Permission denied Any help would be appreciated. By now I have 14 updates waiting and I fear the number will simply increase if I do not lick this problem.
