I just had the same problem while running intrepid alpha 5 on amd64. As
far as I know the only things changed since the last normal boot were
that I removed virtualbox and an old kernel image. I didn't use suspend
or sleep. Now it happens on every boot.

sudo update-initramfs -u did fix the problem, but that shouldn't be
necessary.
