this was never a feature of network manager. it was a feature of the gnome network-admin frontend ... which still exists but needs to be installed manually. remember to remove network-manager if you want to use the gnome network-admin frontend. They never cooperated and we are currently not et blacklisting those interfacs that are configured through network-admin
