There should be no difference between rc6 and the kernel I supplied (at least nothing additional which is not in upstream). Are your pauses the same as for Carl, meaning the boot process stops but can be triggered with any keyboard key. And after boot everything looks ok? Or is there no way to boot successfully without the noapictimer option? If boot hangs do alt+print+q key combinations work for you?
