if I may, the importance is not that low. When this happens (which is more than 
once a week for me), shutting the laptop lid does not put the laptop to sleep 
since acpid doesn't see the event and the laptop can overheat by running at 
full bore with the lid closed.
Of course, I also kill my batteries in the process.

And once you kill and restart acpid, your laptop goes to sleep as many
times as the sleep event was queued up, which could be 10mn of sleep
restore cycles until you can recover your session.

I'm hoping this doesn't happen to too many people (thinkpad Z61p here),
but it's far from low impact to me.
